canola or other salad oil
1 Tbsp
dark molasses
7/8 c
granulated sugar
2 tsp
vanilla extract
1 c
wheat germ
1/2 c
powdered milk (optional)
1/2 tsp
baking powder
1/4 tsp

How to Make Doris' Wheat Germ Brownies


  • 1Grease an 8 inch square baking pan and set oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit to heat up while preparing the brownie batter.
  • 2Mix oil, molasses, sugar, eggs and vanilla together well. Mix dry ingredients (wheat germ, powdered milk, baking powder, and salt) together in a large bowl.
  • 3Add sugar/egg mixture to the dry ingredients in the bowl and mix until incorporated.
  • 4Pour brownie mixture into the prepared pan. Set it into the preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes, or until it appears to be done. Allow to cool and cut into squares.
