Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups uncooked quick oats
- 1 cup crushed bran flakes cereal
- 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- pinch of salt
- 1 1/2 sticks butter (3/4 cup), at room temperature
- 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons grated lemon peel
- 1 package (8 oz) chopped dates
How To Make date-oatmeal cookies

Step 1Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease cookie sheets or line with parchment.

Step 2Mix oats, bran flakes, flour, baking soda and salt in a bowl with a fork.

Step 3Beat together butter and brown sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer until pale and fluffy.

Step 4Beat in egg and lemon peel until blended.

Step 5Stir in flour mixture, then dates until blended.

Step 6Drop tablespoonfuls, 2" apart on prepared cookie sheet.

Step 7Bake 10 minutes or until browned around edges. Cool cookies briefly before removing to wire rack to cool completely.
