These sound great. You could up the healthy on these a little by substituting white whole wheat flour for all-purpose.

uncooked quick oats
1 c
crushed bran flakes cereal
1/4 c
all purpose flour
1/2 tsp
baking soda
of salt
1 1/2 stick
butter (3/4 cup), at room temperature
1 c
packed dark brown sugar
1 large
2 tsp
grated lemon peel
1 pkg
(8 oz) chopped dates

How to Make Date-Oatmeal Cookies


  • 1Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease cookie sheets or line with parchment.
  • 2Mix oats, bran flakes, flour, baking soda and salt in a bowl with a fork.
  • 3Beat together butter and brown sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer until pale and fluffy.
  • 4Beat in egg and lemon peel until blended.
  • 5Stir in flour mixture, then dates until blended.
  • 6Drop tablespoonfuls, 2" apart on prepared cookie sheet.
  • 7Bake 10 minutes or until browned around edges. Cool cookies briefly before removing to wire rack to cool completely.
