These bar cookies have been handed down from my husband's Grandmother who brought them over from Poland. They are simple to make and a great hit at Christmas time!

Ingredients

2 1/2 c
dried cranberries
2 c
orange juice, fresh
2 Tbsp
brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tsp
orange zest
1 c
all purpose flour
1 c
quick cooking oats
1/2 c
brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c
butter, cold, cut into pieces

How to Make Cranberry Mazurkas

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven 350 degrees. Spray a 13 x 9" pan,set aside.
  • 2Combine first 4 ingredients in saucepan,simmer over medium heat 13 min. or until liquid absorbed & mixture is thick. Spoon into blender & process till smooth. Set aside to cook.
  • 3Combine flour, oats & 1/2 cup of brown sugar; cut in butter with pastry blender to resemble coarse meal. Reserve 1 cup mixture, setting aside. Press remaining flour mixture into pan. Spread cranberry mixture over top, sprinkle reserved flour mixture over cranberries.
  • 4Bake 45 minutes till slightly browned on top. Cool in pan. Before cutting into bars, sprinkle powdered sugar over top.
