chocolate chip oatmeal cookies

Who says the only things to put in Oatmeal cookies are raisins? I found this recipe years ago as a child and they have been a family favorite. I recommend using parchment paper on the cookie sheets because it helps prevent burning the bottoms.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups quick oats
  • 4 cups chocolate chips

How To Make chocolate chip oatmeal cookies

  • Step 1
    Combine flour, soda and salt in small bowl.
  • Step 2
    Beat brown sugar, sugar and butter together until smooth.
  • Step 3
    Beat in eggs, milk and vanilla.
  • Step 4
    Gradually beat in flour mixture. Add oats, and chocolate chips.
  • Step 5
    Drop by tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 375 degrees for 12-13 minutes for crispy cookies, or 9-10 minutes for chewy cookies.
  • Step 6
    Allow cookies to cool slightly on cookie sheet then remove to racks or parchment paper to cool completely.
