Chocolate Cherry Cookies
1/2 cbutter or margarine
1 cgranulated sugar
1 1/2 tspvanilla extract
1/2 cbaking cocoa
1/4 tspeach -baking powder and baking soda
1 1/2 call purpose flour
36-48maraschino cherries-well drained and patted with paper towel
How to Make Chocolate Cherry Cookies
- Cream butter, sugar , egg and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add remaining ingredients; blend at low speed until a dough forms( will be stiff). Shape into 1 inch balls; push a cherry part way into each ball(so cherry is showing 1/2). Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet cherry side up. When cookies are molded, prepare frosting and use immediately. Yes this is correct.
1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c. sweetened condensed milk
1/4 teas. salt
1 1/2 teas. maraschino cherry juice
Melt chocolate with milk over low heat in saucepan, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients. Stir. Frost each cherry with 1/2 teaspoon of frosting.(frosting will spread over cookie slightly while baking.
Bake at 350^ for 8-10 minutes until puffy. Cool on wire rack or paper bag. Store in covered container when cold.
