Ingredients
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons rum extract
- - colored sugar to top
How To Make chewy rum sugar cookies

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2In a small bowl, mix all dry ingredients, except sugar. Set aside.

Step 3Using a mixer, beat together the butter and sugar until smooth and very fluffy.

Step 4Beat in egg and rum extract.

Step 5Gradually blend in the rest of the dry ingredients. Make sure you are mixing thoroughly.

Step 6Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and roll in colored sugar. Place on lined cookie sheets about 1 1/2 inches apart.

Step 7Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until lightly browned.
