chewy chocolate cookies
So chocolaty and chewy, just like the name implies. Originally, this recipe was on a Hershey's Cocoa tin.

Ingredients
- PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT
- 1 1/4 cups butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 - eggs
- 2 teaspoons real vanilla extract
- 2 cups usifted, all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup cocoa
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup finely chopped nuts (optional)

Step 1Cream butter and sugar in large mixer bowl. Add eggs and vanilla and blend well. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; blend into creamed mixture. Stir in nuts if desired. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350F for 8-9 minutes. DO NOT OVERBAKE! Cookies will be soft and puffed up but will flatten upon cooling. Cool on cookie sheet to set, about 1 minute; remove to wire rack to cool completely. Yields about 4 1/2 dozen cookies.
