Oh my how my family loves these cookies - hot out of the oven with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and caramel topping;or hot fudge sauce over vanilla bean ice cream.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    butter at room temperature
  • 1/2 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1 large
    egg
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 3/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1 1/2 c
    old fashioned or quick oats, uncooked
  • 1 c
    chocolate chips
  • ·
    vanilla ice cream
  • ·
    caramel or fudge sauce topping

How to Make Cast Iron Skillet Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Heat oven to 350^.
    Beat butter and sugars in a large mixer bowl, until fluffy.
    Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Combine remaining dry ingredients in a small bowl; mix up and add to creamed mixture; mix up.
    Stir in oats and chocolate chips mix up good.
    Press dough evenly into a lightly sprayed 10-inch cast iron or non stick oven proof skillet.
    Bake 20 miinutes or until top is lightly browned. (DO NOT OVER BAKE); cookie will continue to bake after it is removed from oven. Cool about 10 minutes.
    Cut into 8 or 16 wedges.
    Serve with ice cream, and topping of your choice.
