These are yummy! The original recipe calls for chocolate chips but can be made with butterscotch chips too for any comrades I have that cannot/can no longer eat chocolate. Yes it is sad I know!!!

3/4 c
melted butter
1 c
flour
1 c
oatmeal, uncooked

caramel candies
3/4 c
brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tsp
baking soda
1 Tbsp
butter
3 Tbsp
milk
1 c
morsels butterscotch or chocolate
1/2 c
chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

How to Make Caramel Oatmeal Bars

Step-by-Step

  • 1preheat oven to 350
  • 2In a small mixing bowl,combine 3/4 cup butter, flour, oatmeal, brown sugar,and baking soda. Mix well.
  • 3Take 3/4 of mixture and pat evenly into an ungreased 13x9 inch pan. Bake for 10 minutes
  • 4In a saucepan, combine caramels, milk, 1 tbls butter. Heat stirring constantly until caramels are melted.
  • 5Pour melted caramel over baked crust and sprinkle morsels and nuts on top. Cover with remaining oatmeal crumb mixture.
  • 6Bake for an additional 15 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.
