caramel oatmeal bars
These are yummy! The original recipe calls for chocolate chips but can be made with butterscotch chips too for any comrades I have that cannot/can no longer eat chocolate. Yes it is sad I know!!!

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup melted butter
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup oatmeal, uncooked
- 32 - caramel candies
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 1 cup morsels butterscotch or chocolate
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
How To Make caramel oatmeal bars

Step 1preheat oven to 350

Step 2In a small mixing bowl,combine 3/4 cup butter, flour, oatmeal, brown sugar,and baking soda. Mix well.

Step 3Take 3/4 of mixture and pat evenly into an ungreased 13x9 inch pan. Bake for 10 minutes

Step 4In a saucepan, combine caramels, milk, 1 tbls butter. Heat stirring constantly until caramels are melted.

Step 5Pour melted caramel over baked crust and sprinkle morsels and nuts on top. Cover with remaining oatmeal crumb mixture.

Step 6Bake for an additional 15 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.
