butter ball cookies
Also called powdered sugar cookies. These are excellent! Make these at Christmas for sure! For a double recipe, I use 1 1/2 cups butter and 1/2 cup home-rendered lard.

Ingredients
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 cup chopped nutmeats
- 1 cup butter, room temperature
- 1 - egg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
How To Make butter ball cookies

Step 1Mix like pie crust; add egg, salt, vanilla.

Step 2Stir nutmeats into dough or top each with a half of a pecan.

Step 3Roll into walnut-size balls. Flatten very slightly.

Step 4Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Cool. Roll in powdered sugar. Store in airtight container.
