Ingredients

  • 3 medium
    apples, golden delicious, sliced
  • 6 medium
    plums, seeded and chopped
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    corn starch
  • 1/3 c
    water
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • CRUST/TOPPING

  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp
    baking powder
  • 1 c
    butter
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 c
    quick cooking rolled oats

How to Make Apple and Plum Bars

Step-by-Step

  1. Filling: In a med saucepan, combine apples, plums, sugar, water, corn starch, and salt.cook qt med heat for 10 minutes or until thickened. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, sift flour, baking soda, baking powder. Cut in butter with pastry cutter. Stir in brown sugar and rolled oats. Press half of mixture into greased 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Pour fruit mixture on top; top with remaining flour mixture.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes, until top is slightly browned. Cool before cutting into bars.
