There is nothing more American than a warm and gooey chocolate chip cookie and a cold glass of milk. This is a classic recipe filled with nuts and chocolate chips. The cookie is buttery and tender. You get multiple chocolate chips and the right amount of walnuts in every bite. A super kid-friendly recipe. This makes a lot of cookies and would be great for a crowd.

Ingredients

2/3 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 package semi-sweet chocolate chips (12 oz)
1 cup walnuts, chopped

How To Make all-american chocolate chip cookies

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, cream butter, shortening, and sugars. Beat in egg and vanilla.

Step 2

Combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
Step 3

Stir into butter mixture, mixing well.
Step 4

Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
Step 5

Drop by teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart, onto greased baking sheets.
Step 6

Bake in oven preheated to 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes, just until edges are browned and golden (centers will still be soft).
Step 7

Remove to wire racks to cool.
