Ingredients

  • 1 c
    butter
  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    white sugar
  • 2
    egg
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2 pkg
    dates, chopped
  • 3 c
    oats, quick cooking
  • 1 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1 c
    walnuts, chopped
  • ICING

  • 8 oz
    white almond bark
  • 1 Tbsp
    shortening

How to Make A Date With Oatmeal Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Cream butter and sugars.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla - mix until smooth.
  4. In separate bowl mix together salt, baking soda, cinnamon and flour. Add to wet mixture 1/2 cup at a time.
  5. Mix in dates and walnuts.
  6. Add Oatmeal 1 cup at a time. Mix well.
  7. Shape dough into golfball sized cookies and flatten. Bake on parchment lined cookie sheet for 10 to 12 minutes.
  8. Remove cookies and place on parchment lined tray to cool.
  9. In double boiler combine white almond bark and 1 tablespoon shortening. Melt until smooth.
  10. Drizzle by spoon over cookies.
