nannie's brownies
This is my grandma's recipe for brownies. We called my grandma "Nannie". That's what she wanted to be called by all the grand kids. These brownies are cake like, and are so very good with a big glass of milk! I hope you like them! We all sure do! This one's for you Nannie! Nannie was born in 1903, and passed in January of 1988

Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 1 1/4 cups butter, softened
- 5 - eggs, separated
- 3 - squares of bakers chocolate
- 2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 1/4 cups chopped walnuts
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
How To Make nannie's brownies

Step 1Cream butter and sugar together.

Step 2Add egg yolks, melted chocolate, vanilla and walnuts.

Step 3Sift baking powder and flour together. Then add to the above ingredients.

Step 4Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.

Step 5Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees, for 30 minutes.

Step 6Sprinkle with powdered sugar when cool.
