How To Make fudgy oatmeal bars

  • Step 1
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13x9 pan. Mix brown sugar, 1 cup of butter, eggs and 1 tsp. of vanilla in a large bowl. Stir in flour, baking soda, and 1/2 tsp. of salt.Stir in oats.Press mixture in pan.
  • Step 2
Heat chocolate chips, condensed sweetened milk, and 2 tlbs. butter. Now this is where I add the peanut butter.Cook in 2 quart pan on low heat til chocolate is melted.Remove from heat. Stir in nuts, 1 tsp. vanilla and 1/2 tsp. salt.Spread over oatmeal mixture. Bake till golden brown 25-30 minutes. While warm cut into bars. I occasionally keep out some of the oatmeal mixture out and then apply it the top of the chocolate.
