These are one of my daughters favorite desserts because she's a nut for pistachios, ( pun intended!.) She also loves anything w/ chocolate. They are also low in calories, ( if you eat just one!) Calories: 145. Fat: 6 grams Carbs: 21 grams.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups regular oats
  • 3/4 cup chopped pistachio nuts, divided.
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon orange peel
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1-2/3 cup semisweet chocolate chips.

How To Make chocolate-orange pistachio bars

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 325. Line a 9 x 13" pan w/ foil, spray foil w/ cooking spray. Make sur to overlap the foil over the edges of pan. In lg bowl, stir together oats, 1/2 cup chopped nuts, honey, flour, orange peel, orange juice brown sugar, butter, vanilla and baking soda. Mix well. Press mix into pan evenly. Bake 20 min, or until center is set. In microwaveable bowl, microwave chocolate chips,1 min, stir. Keep microwaving and stirring until melted. Spread chocolate over baked mix. Sprinkle w/ remaining chopped nuts. Cool. Cut into bars.
