My friend's aunt made these unusual cookies and I had to have the recipe. I have made it several times and had to give out the recipe. I think its the molasses that makes it a nice surprise when biting into these gems.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    molasses
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    ginger
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 2/3 c
    shortening
  • 1/2 c
    buttermilk (i have used sour milk)
  • 1 1/2 c
    choc. chips
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/2 c
    walnuts, chopped (opt)

How to Make AUNT RUTH’S MOLASSES CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

Step-by-Step

  1. Add all ingredients in bowl and mix until all the ingredients come together. Drop by tablespoon onto greased pan and bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes depending on your oven. Makes 3 1/2 dozen
