Ingredients

  • - powdered sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons flavoring oil (desired flavor)
  • 1 1/2 cups light corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon desired food coloring

How To Make rock candy

  • Step 1
    Cover an 18*24 inch strip of heavy duty foil or a large cookie sheet with powdered sugar. Mix the sugar, syrup and water in a large, heavy saucepan. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  • Step 2
    Boil without stirring until the temperature reaches 310 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove from heat.
  • Step 3
    Stir in flavoring oil and food coloring. Pour onto powdered sugar and cool.
  • Step 4
    Break into pieces or cut strips, work quickly before it cools.
