oranged walnuts

Another recipe I've never seen anyting like before. I thought it would make another great addition to those goodie baskets for Christmas, so thought I'd share it. It also comes from that cookbook my mother put together for the church years ago, but there's no name next to it, so I don't know which of those great ladies it came from. Enjoy!

Makes 3 cups.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
- 2 cups walnuts
How To Make oranged walnuts

Step 1Combine sugar, orange juice and water. Cook until soft ball will form in cold water. (Or use candy thermometer and cook until soft ball stage.) Remove from heat. Add orange peel and walnuts. Mix until syrup becomes cloudy and hard to stir. Quickly turn out onto waxed paper or buttered cookie sheet. Separate into clusters with 2 forks. Allow to cool and harden.
