2 csugar

1 cmilk (mother used canned evaporated milk)

1 tspbutter
-
1 cchopped dates
-
2 cchopped pecans
How to Make MOTHER'S DATE LOAF CANDY(SALLYE)
- Boil sugar and milk until the mixture forms a soft ball in water (or 236º on candy thermometer)
Add dates and pecans and cook until a firm ball forms in water (or 240º on thermometer) - Remove from heat, add butter and let stand until lukewarm
Beat with wooden spoon like fudge until mixture begins to thicken
Pour onto a damp cloth and roll into a loaf (in damp cloth) - Place in refrigerator until cold and firm, then slice
