Sherry, Margaret's granddaughter, sent a note with this recipe: Many fond memories of making divinity with my mom and sisters as preparations were made for Christmas. It takes many hands to dip it out once it is ready. And on the rare occasion, if it flopped, Mom blamed it on the weather.

- 2/3 cup karo
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/3 cup hot water
- 2 egg whites
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- nuts, if desired

Step 1Boil together until a hard mass is formed in cold water (karo, sugar, hot water and vanilla). Beat egg whites and add nuts. Pour on the hot syrup, beating all the time. Color with food coloring if desired. Drop from teaspoon.
