Ingredients

  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, packed
  • 2/3 c
    corn syrup
  • 2/3 c
    water
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1/4 c
    baking cocoa
  • 5oz can(s)
    evaporated milk
  • 2 oz
    semi-sweet baking chocolate
  • 1-1 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract

How to Make Homemade Chocolate Caramel Candy

Step-by-Step

  1. Combine all ingredients, except vanilla, in a heavy 3-quart saucepan; heat over med heat until mixture comes to a boil, stirring accasionally.
  2. Heat until mixture reaches the firm-ball stage or 244 to 249 degrees on a candy thermometer; remove from heat.
  3. Gradually stir in vanilla; pour into a buttered aluminum foil-lined 8x8 baking pan. Set aside to cool completely; lift caramel out of pan. Cut into one-inch squares; wrap individually in wax paper.
