Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2/3 cup corn syrup
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup baking cocoa
  • 5oz cans evaporated milk
  • 2 ounces semi-sweet baking chocolate
  • 1-1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

How To Make homemade chocolate caramel candy

  • Step 1
    Combine all ingredients, except vanilla, in a heavy 3-quart saucepan; heat over med heat until mixture comes to a boil, stirring accasionally.
  • Step 2
    Heat until mixture reaches the firm-ball stage or 244 to 249 degrees on a candy thermometer; remove from heat.
  • Step 3
    Gradually stir in vanilla; pour into a buttered aluminum foil-lined 8x8 baking pan. Set aside to cool completely; lift caramel out of pan. Cut into one-inch squares; wrap individually in wax paper.
