Ingredients

  • 2 cups cane sugar
  • 1 cup corn syrup, dark
  • 1/2 cup dark molasses
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk, not evaporated milk
  • 1 cup butter
  • - dash of salt
  • 1 tablespoon anise oil or about 2-3 tablespoons anise extract

How To Make homemade black flavored licorice

  • Step 1
    Combine in a heavy saucepan over medium heat the sugar, molasses and corn syrup; mix well.
  • Step 2
    Add sweetened condensed milk, butter and salt. Stir constantly.
  • Step 3
    Bring mixture to a boil and gently boil to 232° on candy thermometer.
  • Step 4
    Stir in anise oil and remove from heat.
  • Step 5
    Pour into a foil lined greased foil 9x13-inch pan.
  • Step 6
    Cool at room temperature for 10 minutes then place in refrigerator for a few minutes.
  • Step 7
    Cut into bite size pieces and wrap in waxed paper or cellophane.
