I love making this candy around Christmas. It keeps nicely and everyone loves it. It also makes great gifts.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 teaspoons butter, softened
- 2 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 cup water
- 3 tablespoons maple flavoring
How To Make hard maple candy

Step 1Grease a 15x10x1" pan with butter, set aside.

Step 2In a large heavy saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water. Cook over medium high heat until a candy thermometer reads 300* (hard crack stage), stirring occasionally.

Step 3Remove from the heat; stir in maple flavoring. Immediately pour into prepared pan; cool. Break into pieces. Store in airtight container.
