My late Mother in law made this every Christmas.

Ingredients

4 c
sugar
1 c
water
1 c
light karo syrup
1 (1 oz) bottle
flavoring oil ( we like cinnamon)
food coloring ( add drops to reach desired color)

How to Make Hard Candy

Step-by-Step

  • 1Combine all ingredients and cook until temperature reaches 300 degrees.
  • 2Remove from heat and add food coloring. Mix well, then add flavoring oil.( the whole bottle): mix well.
  • 3Pour into shallow pan with sides. Let stand until cool and hard.
  • 4Break into pieces and coat with powdered sugar.
  • 5Store in candy dish or jar.
