My grandmother on my father's side is one of those sweet old ladies that always has cookies or candies ready for when company comes over. Especially around the holiday times!

  • 1 c
    light corn syrup
  • 2 c
  • 1 c
  • dash(es)
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter, melted
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 c
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda

How to Make Grandma D's Peanut Brittle


  1. Cover a cookie sheet with foil and butter the foil. Set aside.
  2. In 6 quart pot, on medium heat, cook syrup, sugar, water and salt to thread stage (280 degrees).
  3. Add vanilla and peanuts; stir.
  4. Add baking soda and turn of heat.
  5. While stirring, move over to your baking sheet; when you've stirred in the baking soda, pour onto buttered foil.
  6. Let cool. Break into pieces to eat/store.
