This simple, delicious toffee starts with saltine crackers. You can also use graham crackers for a sweeter creation.

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter, unsalted
  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 1/2 packages saltine crackers
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • sea salt

How To Make chocolate sea salt toffee

  • Step 1
    Melt butter with brown sugar in a medium saucepan on medium heat.
  • Step 2
    While the mixture is heating, place 1.5 sleeves of saltines on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Step 3
    Bring butter and sugar to a boil. Boil for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • Step 4
    Pour the hot sugar mixture over the saltines, making sure all crackers are well covered.
  • Step 5
    Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
  • Step 6
    Remove from oven, and sprinkle semi-sweet morsels over crackers. Allow to sit for a couple of minutes. Then spread melted chocolate over crackers with a spatula.
  • Step 7
    Sprinkle with coarse salt before the chocolate begins to set.
  • Step 8
    Let set up in refrigerator for an hour.
  • Step 9
    Break apart and store in an airtight container.
