A favorite candy that we make for Christmas on our candy-making day.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 cups pecans, chopped fine
  • 3 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/4 package paraffin wax
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 75 - maraschino cherries with stems

How To Make chocolate covered cherries

  • Step 1
    Drain cherries on paper towels.
  • Step 2
    Combine sugar, nuts, butter, and peanut butter.
  • Step 3
    Roll mixture into little balls, about 1-inch.
  • Step 4
    Poke a hole in the center of each ball and insert a cherry into each ball.
  • Step 5
    Gently press dough around cherry, leaving only the stem showing.
  • Step 6
    Set aside.
  • Step 7
    Melt paraffin in top of double boiler. Add chocolate chips and stir until melted.
  • Step 8
    Holding cherries by the stem, dip into the chocolate.
  • Step 9
    Place on cookie sheet lined with wax paper.
