Ingredients
- CAKE RECIPE
- WET INGREDIANTS
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 - eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup hot water
- DRY INGREDIANTS
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- ICING RECIPE
- 1 cup shortening
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 4 tablespoons water
- 2 tablespoons milk
How To Make vanilla whoopie pies

Step 1Pre heat oven to 425°

Step 2In a large bowl combine and mix all wet ingredients EXCEPT HOT WATER

Step 3In medium size bowl combine dry ingredients

Step 4Add ½ dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix. Repeat with 2nd half of dry ingredients.

Step 5Add Hot water and mix

Step 6I used a 2” cookie scoop for the whoopie pies. Use a lightly greased or parchment covered

Step 7Bake for 6 to 7 minutes

Step 8Next are the icing steps

Step 9Using a mixer combine shortening and powdered sugar

Step 10Add powdered sugar 1 cup at a time adding 2 Tbsp of water with each cup and ending with the 2 Tbsp of milk

Step 11On med/high speed mix icing for 5 minutes

Step 12Scrape sides of bowl with spatula

Step 13On high speed mix icing for another 5 minutes

Step 14Fluff with spatula
