- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2/3 cup finely chopped nuts
- 2 3/4 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- - whole milk
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 4 - eggs
- 12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips

Step 1TOPPING: Oven to 375 degrees. Combine first 3 ingredients until crumbly, spoon into well greased and floured 10" tub pan. Chill while preparing batter.

Step 2CAKE: Combine flour, soda and salt, set aside. Put vinegar in 1 cup measure, fill with milk to make 1 cup. Combine butter, brown sugar and vanilla, add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Add flour mixture 1/3 at a time, alternating with milk. Fold chips in by hand. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 50 min. Loosen edged of cake with spatula immediately and invert onto cooling rack to cool completely.
