A light and delicious chocolate cake
you can make without using an oven.

  • 1/2 stick
  • 1/2 c
    canola oil
  • 1 c
    white sugar
  • 2 large
  • 1 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 c
    cocoa powder, unsweetened
  • 3/4 tsp
    baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract


  • 1 1/2 c
    confectioner's sugar/ icing sugar sifted
  • 1/4 c
    (25g) cocoa powder sifted
  • 50g
    butter, melted
  • 2 Tbsp
    full (40ml) milk
  • ·
    combine all ingredients & mix well using a wooden spoon.
  • ·
    spread on top of the cake using an spatula. refrigerate before serving.

How to Make Steamed Chocolate Cake


  1. Melt butter in a saucepan, add oil, evaporated milk and sugar; stir over low heat until sugar is dissolved. Take off fire and slightly cool, add the beaten eggs and stir until well mixed.
  2. Sift the flour,cocoa powder,baking powder and baking soda into a large mixing bowl.
  3. Fold flour mixture into the egg & milk mixture (or the other way around, it doesn’t make any difference) mix well until there are no more lumps.
  4. Gently pour into the prepared aluminum pan or pyrex and place into the steamer and cover the top of the aluminum pan or pyrex loosely with a piece of aluminium foil.
  5. Completely cool before adding your favorite frosting.
  6. Enjoy cooking...:)
