My mother made this cake when I was a child, it was my daddy's favorite.

  • 1 c
    oatmeal, uncooked
  • 1 1/4 c
    bowling water
  • 1 stick
    butter, room temperature
  • 1 c
    light brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 c
    white sugar
  • 2
  • 1 1/2 c
    flour, self rising
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon, ground

  • 1 c
    light brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 stick
    butter at room temperature
  • 1/3 c
    evaporated milk
  • 1 c
  • 1/2 c
    oatmeal, uncooked

How to Make Russian Cake


  1. Mix Oatmeal and bowling water together in bowl, and let stand 20 minutes
  2. Cream together: Butter, brown/white sugars and eggs.
  3. Stir in oatmeal
  4. Add flour, vailla and cinnamon. Mix well
  5. Coat 9 X 13 cake pan with cooking spray. Bake at 350 derees for 25 - 30 minutes
  6. Mix together all ingredients for topping.
  7. Spread topping on warm cake
  8. Place cake under broiler to brown topping.
