This is a creamy pudding like dessert that is good with whipping cream, a little heavy cream or icecream.
I made some changes to my grandma's Rhubarb Torte recipe and didn't really think torte fit the recipe so changed it to a dumpcake.

Ingredients

  • 4 c
    fresh rhubarb, washed and cut up
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1 1/2 c
    water, minus 1 teaspoon
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 pkg
    (3oz) strawberry jello
  • 1 pkg
    yellow cake mix
  • 1 stick
    butter, cut in small pieces
  • 1 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 pinch
    nutmeg

How to Make Rhubarb Dumpcake

Step-by-Step

  1. In a bowl combine rhubarb, sugar, water, and vanilla.
  2. Sprinkle jello over this
  3. Put mixture in the bottom of a 9x13 inch pan.
  4. Sprinkle cake Mix on top of fruit mixture.
  5. Scatter butter pieces over cake mix.
  6. Sprinkle with mixture of sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes.
