Ingredients

21/2 c
sifted self rising flour
1 1/2 c
sugar
1 tsp
baking soda
1 tsp
cocoa powder
1 c
buttermilk
1 1/2 c
cooking oil

eggs
1 tsp
vanilla extract

bottles red food coloring

CREAM CHEESE ICING

1 stick
butter, room temperature
1-8 oz
cream cheese, room temperature
1 tsp
vanilla extract
1 c
chopped nuts if you want them
1 box
powdered sugar

How to Make Red Velvet Cake

Step-by-Step

  • 1sift flour,before measuring-this is easy start at the top and add all ing. to a stand mixer or use a hand mixer and mix on low for 4 minutes.
  • 2grease and flour 2- 8 in pans pour in mixture and bake at 350 for 28 minutes
  • 3cool in pans 10 minutes then turn out onto paper towels to cool
  • 4the top will leave some crumbs on the paper towels ,i always crumble them on top of the iced cke --really pretty
