- 21/2 cups sifted self rising flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 1/2 cups cooking oil
- 2 - eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 - bottles red food coloring
- CREAM CHEESE ICING
- 1 stick butter, room temperature
- 1-8 ounce cream cheese, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped nuts if you want them
- 1 box powdered sugar
- MIX WELL CAN ALSO DOUBLE ICING RECIPE
How To Make red velvet cake

Step 1sift flour,before measuring-this is easy start at the top and add all ing. to a stand mixer or use a hand mixer and mix on low for 4 minutes.

Step 2grease and flour 2- 8 in pans pour in mixture and bake at 350 for 28 minutes

Step 3cool in pans 10 minutes then turn out onto paper towels to cool

Step 4the top will leave some crumbs on the paper towels ,i always crumble them on top of the iced cke --really pretty
