    sifted self rising flour
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    cocoa powder
  • 1 c
    buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 c
    cooking oil
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2
    bottles red food coloring
  • CREAM CHEESE ICING

  • 1 stick
    butter, room temperature
  • 1-8 oz
    cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 c
    chopped nuts if you want them
  • 1 box
    powdered sugar
  • MIX WELL CAN ALSO DOUBLE ICING RECIPE

How to Make Red Velvet Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. sift flour,before measuring-this is easy start at the top and add all ing. to a stand mixer or use a hand mixer and mix on low for 4 minutes.
  2. grease and flour 2- 8 in pans pour in mixture and bake at 350 for 28 minutes
  3. cool in pans 10 minutes then turn out onto paper towels to cool
  4. the top will leave some crumbs on the paper towels ,i always crumble them on top of the iced cke --really pretty
