This handed down recipe is expected to show up at the buffet table at every holiday.Sometimes there are 2 or three- because we never know if there will be enough so my sisters always make one too!

Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped red and green candied cherries or red and green maraschino cherries , patted very dry
- 1/2 cup golden raisins
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup orange juice, fresh
How To Make cherry sweet bread

Step 1sift together flour,baking powder, soda and salt. Sprinkle 1 cup of mixture over combined fruits and nuts. Cream butter and sugar thoroughly. Add eggs and beat until light and fluffy. Add dry ingredients and orange juice, stirring until just blended - like making muffins. Fold in floured nuts and fruit. Spoon batter into a well sprayed or greased 9-inch tube pan. Bake in 350^ for one hour, or until center tests done. Cool for 5 minutes and remove from pan. If desired, frost top with a mixture of powdered sugar and orange juice. Sprinkle top with chopped nuts or coconut.
