Got this from a friend I worked with.This was her Mother's recipe. They are from WV. I had to beg her for this recipe after she brought me some, after her Christmas vacation to WV to visit her Mother. It is very addictive.

eggs room temperature

flour, all purpose, sifted
1 tsp
1 tsp
1 c
8 oz
chopped dates
1 can(s)
coconut, flaked
1 lb
orange slice candy, chopped
2 c
pecans, chopped
1 tsp
vanilla extract
1 tsp
lemon extract

How to Make Orange Slice Cake


  • 1Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
  • 2Cream butter & sugar, add eggs one at a time and beat well after each egg.
  • 3Sift 3 1/2 cups flour, soda, & salt. Add alternately with buttermilk. And mix well.
  • 4With remaining 1/2 cup flour, coat nuts, coconut, dates, & orange slices. Fold into mixture. Add vanilla and lemon flavorings.
  • 5Pour into a greased & floured tube pan.
    Bake at 250 degrees for 2 1/2 hr.
