Got this from a friend I worked with.This was her Mother's recipe. They are from WV. I had to beg her for this recipe after she brought me some, after her Christmas vacation to WV to visit her Mother. It is very addictive.

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 5 - eggs room temperature
- 4 cups flour, all purpose, sifted
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 8 ounces chopped dates
- 1 can coconut, flaked
- 1 pound orange slice candy, chopped
- 2 cups pecans, chopped
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon lemon extract
How To Make orange slice cake

Step 1Preheat oven to 250 degrees.

Step 2Cream butter & sugar, add eggs one at a time and beat well after each egg.

Step 3Sift 3 1/2 cups flour, soda, & salt. Add alternately with buttermilk. And mix well.

Step 4With remaining 1/2 cup flour, coat nuts, coconut, dates, & orange slices. Fold into mixture. Add vanilla and lemon flavorings.

Step 5Pour into a greased & floured tube pan. Bake at 250 degrees for 2 1/2 hr.
