Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 5 eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 1 package (8 oz.) dates; cut cup
- 1 pound orange candy slices; cut up
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups pecans; chopped
- 1 can (4 oz.) shredded coconut
- 4 cups sifted flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon buttermilk
How To Make orange candy cake

Step 1Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla.

Step 2Mix dates, candy, nuts, and coconut with 1/4 cup flour.

Step 3Sift the remaining flour with baking soda and salt. Alternately fold into creamed mixture with buttermilk.

Step 4Fold in date mixture. Spoon into a well-greased 10" tube pan.

Step 5Bake at 300° for 2½ hours.

Step 6Remove from oven. Let stand for 15 minutes. Remove from pan then pour on Lemon Syrup*.

Step 7When the cake is completely cool, wrap it in aluminum foil and refrigerate at least 1 day before serving.
