Ingredients For orange candy cake

  • 1 c
    butter
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 5
    eggs
  • 1 Tbsp
    vanilla
  • 1 pkg
    (8 oz.) dates; cut cup
  • 1 lb
    orange candy slices; cut up
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 2 c
    pecans; chopped
  • 1 can
    (4 oz.) shredded coconut
  • 4 c
    sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    buttermilk

How To Make orange candy cake

    Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla.

    Mix dates, candy, nuts, and coconut with 1/4 cup flour.

    Sift the remaining flour with baking soda and salt. Alternately fold into creamed mixture with buttermilk.

    Fold in date mixture. Spoon into a well-greased 10" tube pan.

    Bake at 300° for 2½ hours.

    Remove from oven. Let stand for 15 minutes. Remove from pan then pour on Lemon Syrup*.

    When the cake is completely cool, wrap it in aluminum foil and refrigerate at least 1 day before serving.
