Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c
    vegetable oil
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 3 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 c
    pecans, finely chopped
  • 2 c
    pears, recommend canned in heavy syrup 1 1/2 cans) chopped and drained, reserve juice
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 3
    eggs

How to Make Old Fashioned Pear Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 325.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine oil, sugar and eggs. Beat until creamy.
  3. In a medium sized mixing bowl, sift together flour, salt,cinnamon and baking soda.
  4. Stir dry ingredients into creamed mixture until smooth. Add vanilla. Fold in pears and pecans.
  5. Pour mixture into a well greased bundt or tube pan.
  6. Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean. Drizzle glaze over it. The glaze is the next recipe.
