old fashioned butter nut cake

This cake is divine and NOT HEALTHY. :-) This recipe came from my aunt, who got it from my grandmother. (She died before I was born and was making this cake in the 40s and 50s, according to my dad).

Ingredients
- 1 cup crisco (not oil, the stuff in the can!)
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla, butter & nut flavoring
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup self rising flour
- 1 cup milk, whole
- 4 - eggs
- ICING
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 4 tablespoons canned milk (pet or carnation)
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, butter & nut flavoring

Step 1Cream crisco and mix in sugar

Step 2Add eggs, one at a time and beat

Step 3Mix flour together and add to mixture

Step 4Add milk and flavor. Beat and pour into a bundt pan sprayed with cooking spray (such as Pam) or two round cake pans.

Step 5Bake at 325 for one hour.

Step 6Cream butter until fluffy. Add part of the powdered sugar and beat. Continue adding sugar and milk in small batches and beat until very fluffy. Stir in flavoring. Frost/Ice your cake.
