This is a very moist cake. A cake that my Grandmother & Mother frequently made. Great with a cup of coffee or tea.

Ingredients
- 1 cup quick cooking oats
- 1 stick butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 2 - eggs
- 1 1/3 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
How To Make oatmeal cake

Step 1Pour 1 1/4 c. boiling water over oats & butter. Let stand for 20 minutes.

Step 2Mix the sugars, flour, baking soda, nutmeg & cinnamon.

Step 3Add eggs, 1 at a time.

Step 4After 20 minutes, add the oats & water mixture. Mix well.

Step 5Bake & top when done with - 6 Tablespoons soft butter 1/4 c. cream 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 1 c. coconut & nuts Mix & spread on cake & put in broiler for about 5 minutes or until lightly browned.

Step 6Bake in 13x9" pan.
