No Mess Delicious Apple Cake

It's a really good European pastry. Now that fall is coming,apples are everywhere. So I found my Mom's delicious recipe for an apple cake. I remember when I was little girl and she would make it for me during this season.You don't need to use a mixer.Just combine the dry ingredients and sprinkle with apples and butter. A delicious moist,crunchy topped cake comes out. It really is worth making.

all purpose flour
1 c
1 c
grits or polenta
1 1/2 tsp
baking powder
1 stick
butter,salted and cold
1 Tbsp
2 lb
apples,skinned and shredded


1First, mix 4 ingredients very well. Divide into 3 equal parts.
2Preheat oven to 375 F.Butter and spread bread crumbs or flour onto a 9 inch spring form pan.
3Pour the first part of the dry ingredients on the bottom. Put the apples on top and sprinkle with cinnamon.Pour the second part of dry ingredients and again put the apples on top and sprinkle with cinnamon. Then do the third part.
4Sprinkle with shredded cold butter and brown sugar. Put the pie on top of a cookie pan, just in case some juice leaks while baking.
5Bake for 60 minutes.Enjoy!
