Ingredients
- CAKE
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 - eggs
- 1 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- pinch salt
- 1 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped
- FROSTING
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup sifted powdered sugar
- - pure maple syrup, as needed
How To Make mennonite maple walnut cake

Step 1Preheat oven to 350F. Lightly coat an 8-square baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.

Step 2Beat together butter, eggs, and syrup.

Step 3Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt, and stir into butter mixture gradually. Beat with whisk until smooth fold in walnuts.

Step 4Pour into a greased square pan and bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.

Step 5Let cool completely in pan on wire rack before frosting.

Step 6To make frosting, Melt butter and blend in the powdered sugar. Add just enough maple syrup yo bring it to spreading consistency.

Step 7Frost top of cake and serve.
