A lower fat version of this favorite dessert. If you don’t have dry buttermilk powder, use regular buttermilk; mix it in with the wet ingredients and omit the water.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons dry buttermilk powder
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup dark molasses
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 - egg

How To Make low fat gingerbread

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 F. Coat an 8-inch square baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.

  • Step 2
    Combine flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, sugar and buttermilk powder in a large mixingl bowl. Whisk together until blended.
  • Step 3
    Add remaining ingredients and stir until combined.
  • Step 4
    Pour into prepared pan and bake 25 minutes, or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
  • Step 5
    Cool in pan on wire rack. Serve warm or room temperature with a dollop of whipped cream.
