A lower fat version of this favorite dessert. If you don’t have dry buttermilk powder, use regular buttermilk; mix it in with the wet ingredients and omit the water.

  • 1 1/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 1 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 c
  • 2 Tbsp
    dry buttermilk powder
  • 1/4 c
    vegetable oil
  • 1/2 c
    dark molasses
  • 1/2 c
  • 1

How to Make Low Fat Gingerbread


  1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Coat an 8-inch square baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.

  2. Combine flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, sugar and buttermilk powder in a large mixingl bowl. Whisk together until blended.
  3. Add remaining ingredients and stir until combined.
  4. Pour into prepared pan and bake 25 minutes, or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
  5. Cool in pan on wire rack. Serve warm or room temperature with a dollop of whipped cream.
