This is one of my Dad's favorite cakes. It is absolutely wonderful!

Ingredients

  • 1 box
    yellow cake mix
  • 14 oz
    can crushed pineapple in syrup
  • 1/3 c
    corn starch
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter, cold
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 16 oz
    container of cool whip
  • 16 oz
    sour cream
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • ·
    red food coloring drops

How to Make Love Dove Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Bake Cake by Directions on Box and let cool.
  2. Cook pineapple, corn starch, 1/2 cup sugar and salt in a double boiler until clear and thick.
  3. Add butter, lemon juice and vanilla and mix in well.
  4. Cool thoroughly.
  5. Mix Cool Whip and sour cream w/ a few drops of red food coloring (until mixture is pink).
  6. Ice cake with cool whip icing. Put pineapple topping just on top.
  7. Keep refrigerated.
