This recipe was passed down to me from my MawMaw and Momma.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour, sifted well
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup crisco shortening (mawmaw said it has to be crisco)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 - eggs, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon lemon extract
  • and the - juice of 1/2 lemon

How To Make lemon pound cake

  • Step 1
    Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan.
  • Step 2
    Bake in a pre-heated oven at 350 degrees for 55 minutes.
