layered coffee cake 1930
This is one of the other recipes that Mom got from Mrs. Marcus when she was 20 years old in 1930. It has a brown sugar, walnut, cinnamon filling that is placed between 2 layers of batter with the last layer of filling being on top like a streusel. I remember Mom making this one and it was excellent. We wanted more so it was not too long before she made it again (until she ran out of walnuts) LOL! Enjoy!

How To Make layered coffee cake 1930
-
Step 1BATTER: Cream butter and sugar, add whole eggs and milk, add the baking powder and the flour and mix well.
-
Step 2FILLING: cream the butter and sugar, add the flour, walnuts and cinnamon and mix
-
Step 3LAYER: Batter, filling, batter, filling -- and bake in a bundt, or loaf pan at 350 F until done when tested.
-
Step 4NOTE: this can be layered in any fashion you want... if you want a large layer of filling inside and a plain top, just put all the filling in the middle... or you can put a couple of layers inside to make two "stripes" with a little on top. Just anyway you want to do it should work. Enjoy!
