Got this recipe from my pastor's wife, it's amazing!

Ingredients

  • DOUGH
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 3 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons dry milk
  • 2 teaspoons active yeast
  • FILLING
  • 1 (8oz) package cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • GLAZE
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar

How To Make king cake

  • Step 1
    Mix ingredients for dough; separate into 2 equal portions. Place on floured board and roll out into rectangles about 1/4" thick.
  • Step 2
    Soften cream cheese and mix ingredients for filling. Spread filling over the dough.
  • Step 3
    Roll dough sections from long side. Twist the two sections around each other and place in greased tube baking pan.
  • Step 4
    Let rise in warm place until double sized (about 1 hour).
  • Step 5
    Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
  • Step 6
    Let cool completely. While cooling, mix ingredients for glaze. When cooled, glaze.
  • Step 7
    For added fun, separate glaze into three parts and add purple, green and yellow food coloring, then glaze your cake!
