Ingredients
- 3/4 cup all purpose flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups egg whites, approx. 12 large
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 3/4 cup additional sugar
How To Make homemade angel food cake

Step 1Place oven rack in lowest position. Pre heat oven to 375 degrees.

Step 2In a small bowl, combine flour and 3/4 cup of sugar. In a large mixing bowl, combine egg whites, cream of tartar, vanilla, salt, and almond extract, beat at high speed till soft peaks form. Gradually add the other 3/4 cup of sugar and beat on high till stiff peaks form.

Step 3Spoon flour mixture, 1/4 cup at a time, folding in each time till blended. Pour batter into ungreased 10 inch tube pan, with a knife, gently cut through batter to remove any large air bubble.

Step 4Bake on lowest rack for 35 minutes or till crust is golden brown. Turn pan upside down on a glass bottle and let cool for about an hour.
