I created this new poke cake recipe. It is filled with salted butterscotch for the first time. It's gonna be delicious.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • 1 - yellow cake mix (15.25 ounce)
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup butterscotch ice cream topping
  • 10 buttercotch candies, chopped
  • CREAM OF SALTED BUTTERSCOTCH
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup melted margarine
  • 3/4 cup butterscotch syrup
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • SALTED BUTTERSCOTCH WHIPPED TOPPING
  • 1 tube frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 3/4 cup butterscotch ice cream topping
  • 8 ounces cream cheese,softened
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt

How To Make salted butterscotch poke cake

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Step 2
    Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking dish. Add butterscotch chips
  • Step 3
    Beat cake mix, water, eggs, oil, and butterscotch ice cream topping together in a bowl using an electric mixer on medium speed until batter is smooth, about 2 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Pour batter into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with chopped butterscotch candies.
  • Step 5
    Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean for 30 to 35 minutes. Poke the holes into the cake with a wooden skewer.
  • Step 6
    To make Cream of Salted Butterscotch: in a medium saucepan combine heavy cream, margarine, butterscotch syrup, and sea salt over medium heat stirring constantly for 5 minutes. Remove the heat.
  • Step 7
    Pour over the warm cake with holes. Cool completely; about 1 hour.
  • Step 8
    To make Salted Butterscotch Whipped Topping: in a medium bowl, combine whipped topping, butterscotch ice cream topping, cream cheese, and sea salt well until smooth.
  • Step 9
    Spread over the cake and sprinkle with remaining chopped butterscotch candies.
