My Mother made this cake all the time. My brother in law would always ask for this cake at our family meals. Became know as the "Gummy Cake" not sure why but it is a rich chocolate cake. Great with carmel icing.

- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup cocoa, unsweetened
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salk
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup cold strong coffee
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
